As all musicians start out, I was obsessed with music. My life had a soundtrack in my head, and a lot of that soundtrack, I wrote ... in my head.
I bought a bass and an amp when I was 18, joined my first band and that was it. I knew I had to make music as much as possible, for as long as possible.
In 1989 I co-founded a band called Doomsday Dogs, and was co-composer and main lyricist for most of the band's songs.
DDD was the first Band for me that really meant something. we had incredible potential. but Very unfortunately the band broke up in 1994. From 94 on, I wrote, recorded and performed (playing both guitar and bass, as well as being vocalist) my solo compositions, with the help of other musicians.
In 2003 had started another meaningful band called Hip Knubbin with some really amazing musicians that really believed in my solo work. It was difficult to get everyone's lives and careers to merge and devote more time to the project to keep it going, and so it dissolved.
In 2007 or so, I bought myself a drum kit because I wanted to see I could play drums. I could. It was just in me. With a friend I started a "hair Metal" cover band, just for fun; just to play. I then played drums in an original band called BURN. I also played drums for The Flesh Columns at a reunion in 2009.
I still compose and record my solo work whenever possible, but do so solitarily, not feeling comfortable with committing my trust in other musicians any longer. Hard lessons learned. Although many I have worked with were wonderful, it only took a few egomaniacal douche-bags to really sour my desire to try again.
I will always be obsessed with music, always live with a soundtrack in my head, and always make my own music. Should the right musicians ever cross my path in the future, I'm sure I can be persuaded to collaborate again.
